AIG Zone 2 Promises To Rejig Security, Tame Crimes

The new AIG Zone 2 Lagos, Muhammed Ali Ari, has said he would rejig the security apparatus in his zone to fight crimes and criminality.

Ali, who spoke to journalists at the Zone 2 Command Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos, said his knowledge, training and experience in crime fighting, would enhance his operational modalities in achieving this aim.

He said, “I am a hard fighter. I am fully prepared for the job. Expect crime control, and we want to see how best we can bring crime relatively to total control and give Lagosians and the people of Ogun State the enabling environment to do their businesses without any molestation or attack, and where they would go home from their various work or business places with their two eyes closed.”

He said he would also give other crimes such as cultism a strong fight in order to tame it, saying, “The best way to fight cultism is through community policing and partnering with the major actors and stakeholders; globally, it has been acknowledged that the Police can’t do it alone.”

He counselled that as a crime fighter, when you begin to see challenges as problems, you already feel or have that sense if self-defeat. But, when you begin to see challenges as an opportunity to excel, I’m sure you will excel exceedingly.”

The AIG said he was familiar with Lagos, describing it as another home-coming; promising that robbers and other criminals would face hard time henceforth.

According to him, “They should relocate and if they refuse to do so, we would dislocate them.”

He said the zone’s operations would be made robust, stressing: “We have to do crime mapping to know where you have some of these notorious crimes, and then you think about how to go into partnership with major actors and see how to nip them in the bud.”
