The new District Governor for District 404B2 Nigeria of the International Association of Lions Clubs, Lion Ademola Adesoye, has unveiled his presidency’s 10-Point Agenda anchored on the spirit of kindness and the need to reach out and touch lives.

In order to positively impact the lives of the people in our communities, Lion Adesoye called on fellow Lions and non-Lions alike to imbibe the spirit of kindness and understand that kindness matters.

Speaking at a press conference yesterday in Lagos to unveil his administration’s agenda to the public to usher in the new Lions Service Year 2020-2021, the new District Governor, hinted that in line with the global core projects this year focused on diabetes, paediatric cancer, vision, environment and hunger relief, the District would build a Diabetes Screening and Treatment Centre at the General Hospital, Offa, Kwara State to be completed by ‪June 30, 2021‬

Still on diabetes, he said the district will screen 8,000 people for Diabetes Mellitus in Kwara, Ekiti and Osun axis, while 12,000 people will be screened in Lagos for the same ailment before the end of 2020/2021 Lions service Year.

He said the District’s Sight Preservation Awareness and Action Committee will roll out eyes screening and carry out Cataract operations for 100 patients at Ado Ekiti by December 2020.

Lion Adesoye said his district will facilitate and sponsor Reading Action Programme otherwise known as Spelling Bee Competition among the schools in Lagos, Kwara, Osun and Ekiti States by January 2021 to pick the best three students in each of the states.

“The District Governor presentation will hold ‪on November 22, 2021‬. This mean that clubs investiture/presentation will follow after.

“We would be having our end of year party for the physically challenged, widows and orphans at Wesley School, Surulere, Lagos by ‪December 18, 2020‬ to put smile in the faces of the vulnerable.

“We would have comprehensive medical screening and support in our Medical Mission Programme slated for the year to be held in Osun State in January 2021 for 3,000 people.

“We would facilitate training of Lions to prepare them for different leadership roles now and in the nearest future

“Having realized that COVID-19 pandemic had affected the economy of the nation to a large extent, we have put in place District Membership Empowerment and Service Welfare Committee to facilitate different vocational training for the improvement of members income and will be extended to the public, “ Lion Adesoye promised.

THe said by April 2021, the District’s Committee on “Family Boat Cruise” will be taking 200 people out on families entertainment on the sea, adding the District Convention will hold at Offa, Kwara State as earlier circulated while the Multiple District Convention is slated to take place in Osogbo with District 404B2 hosting the Multiple District 404 Nigeria.

While charging everyone to imbibe kindness as part of our lives and customs, that for kindness to be felt, you must reach out and touch lives, he noted that “this is the greatest opportunity at moment to reach to millions of people and touch their lives….”

Lion Adesoye who sees Lions as solutions providers in unity and diversity, said “the world is facing challenges: natural disasters, famine, and COVID-19 pandemic, other diseases, conflict, prejudice, and creed. The unfortunate reality is that there will always be difficulties for us as global citizens to overcome. Yet, history has also shown the potential for creative and peaceful solutions to these problems, a path to a more harmonious existence.

“While the problems may seem insurmountable when faced alone, we can all take comfort in our strength, our nearly 1.4 million Lions, and our incredible ability to engineer solutions, love, compassion, inclusion, connection, only through a diverse group of perspectives, including people of all backgrounds and all places, can we realize our full potential as Lions and serve the diverse needs of our communities, and the world.

“There’s a reason we’ve each chosen to be a part of Lions Clubs International. It’s because we value the insight, the beliefs and the heart of others, and we realize the greater good that can only be achieved when we join hands together to serve as one.”

The District overall mission aimed at achieving success and ensuring membership growth, Lion Adesoye said, is to be creative in finding unique solutions to better their present situation and to create a new model for membership growth and development for the district through all inclusive, teamwork, dynamic leadership and great commitment in a passionate manner.
