Army Holds Sensitization Lectures To Troops Of Sector 2 Joint Task Force North East Operation

The Chief of Civil Military Affairs (CCMA) Maj Gen NC Ugbo and his entourage on 2 December visited HQ Sect 2 OPHK Damaturu.

On arrival, the CCMA was received by the Comd Sect 2 Maj Gen MLD Saraso and he thereafter proceeded to the Sect Trg Hall venue for the sensitization lecture.

The lecture title; “Constitutional Responsibilities of the Nigerian Soldier through Adherence to Humanitarian and Human Right Laws” was delivered by a resource person, Maj II Nibras who extensively covered the provisions of the International Humanitarian Law (IHL) and International Human Rights Laws (IHRL) as they affect the conduct of armed conflicts.

At the end of the lecture, questions and contributions were entertained to clear doubts. In his vote of thanks, the Comd expressed appreciation for the lecture and harped on the need for troops to always adhere to the provisions of IHL in the conduct of operations.

The CCMA, in his closing remarks, clarified some grey areas on the application of IHL in OPHK and also thanked Comd Sect 2 for the warm reception.

He further enjoined the participants to remain committed to their duties to facilitate the final defeat of the insurgents in the North East Theatre. In attendance at the lecture were participants drawn from HQ Sect 2 and Bdes/Units within the Sector AOR. Subj ended with presentation of souvenirs and group photographs.
