Food security: RiceAfrika Receives Government Support to Establish Presence in Somaliland

RiceAfrika, a tech-driven agriculture optimization service provider, founded in Nigeria has received support from the Government of Somaliland to establish its presence in the country to help combat food insecurity.
The Founder and CEO of RiceAfrika, Mr. Ibrahim Maigari Ahmadu, received the express support of the Republic of Somaliland through the country’s Vice President, His Excellency Abdirahman Abdillahi Ismail, during his courtesy call to the Presidential Palace in Hargeisa on Wednesday, February 21st, 2024.
Mr. Ahmadu expressed gratitude to the government of the Republic and presented to the Vice President how RiceAfrika is transforming smallholder farming communities in Africa through technology.
The visit was facilitated by Bilow Capital, a venture capital fund and studio based in Hargeisa, working to attract innovative and impact-driven companies to invest in Somaliland known as “Africa’s Startup Nation” having committed to fostering a conducive business climate for enterprises that are dedicated to improving livelihoods across the nation.
RiceAfrika currently has operations in Nigeria, Tanzania, and Rwanda. The company uses its award-winning FarmEASY Operating System to improve the productivity of smallholder farmers in Africa.
The company’s expansion initiative into Somaliland is a significant milestone towards the adoption of a tech-driven solution to curb food insecurity in the country.
The support given to RiceAfrika’s planned presence in the region underscores the government’s commitment to attracting innovative and socially responsible ventures into Somaliland.
