Zamfara deputy governor raises alarm over impeachment moves despite court restraining order
Mahadi Gusau, State Deputy Governor, Zamfara State
Zamfara State Deputy Governor, Mahadi Gusau has raised an alarm that despite a court order restraining the State Assembly from any impeachment moves against him, members of the House have gone ahead to breach the pending suit and disobey court order, by scheduling sitting to proceed with impeachment proceedings.
The Deputy Governor let this out while briefing newsmen in Gusau, the state capital.
The deputy governor’s alarm is coming on the heels of the State Assembly members 48 hours ultimatum last Tuesday, to appear before them, to answer questions on alleged misconduct.
He said, he is constrained to draw the attention of the public to the ugly situation and hoped that well-meaning citizens and people of goodwill, will call the lawmakers to order, and help them appreciate the need to obey subsisting court order, and await the outcome of the case before the court.
The Director-General, Public Relations, of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, Mustapha Jaafaru, told journalists that the state lawmakers received the official communication from Deputy Governor Mahadi Gusau, stating that he would not appear before the house, as a result of the court order, and the pending suit in court.
It would be recalled that Zamfara State Deputy Governor Mahadi Gusau, was summoned by the State Assembly, to explain why he held a political rally, at a time people of the state were mourning the death of over 56 persons, killed by suspected bandits, at Faru District of Maradun Local Government Area of the state.
