Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets began the WAFU B tournament on a shaky note after Ivory Coast beat them 0-1 in their first game on Wednesday.
Coach Fatai Amoo’s team succumbed to pressure from their counterpart in the 76th minute of play with the defeat putting the record World Cup winners in a tight spot.
Nigeria’s quest to make the next stage seem somewhat complicated with the loss to the Baby Elephants as Group B has only three teams. This means each country has two matches to play.
On Saturday, the Golden Eaglets take on Ghana, a match which is sure to reignite the age-long rivalry between the two football powerhouses.
Prior to the Ivory Coast match, the Nigerian side had raised the alarm that there is a conspiracy against the team. The team had arrived the Togolese capital, Lome before their opponents but their Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) tests were not initially moved before it was conducted.
Good news….
“The Golden Eaglets of @thenff all had their MRI tests done last night after the uproar in the media and the complaints from the Nigerian camp. The team is good to go against the Ivoriens today from 5PM”. @UfoawafuB @CAF_Online

According to officials of the Nigerian team, the move was targeted as unsettling the Eaglets ahead of the competition.
