The future Lotus SUV on Volvo platform
Lotus will dig into the Geely Group’s organ bank to design the much anticipated future SUV.
This is what announced Marc Gales, the CEO of the British manufacturer, in an interview given to a fellow American.
“Let’s call the modules. Platform suggests something big and heavy and it’s not like that. We will intensively use a mix of new and proven Geely Group modules and combine them to create a beautiful and powerful crossover, “he said.
The future SUV of Lotus could therefore inherit the platform SPA of Volvo . The SPA structure would limit the range of engines to four-cylinder engines, but Marc Gales said the SUV will have a hybrid option . The future SUV Lotus could therefore offer more than 400 hp under the hood and remain very efficient thanks to a very contained weight.
The SUV will also use Volvo’s architecture and electrical equipment , including the large touch screen. “I like the new Volvo interiors because they are so simple,” said Marc Gales. “The screen is great,” he added.
Scheduled for 2021, the Lotus SUV should allow Lotus to exceed the mark of 10,000 annual sales according to Marc Gales, compared with the 1,600 cars sold in 2017.

Kia unveils first picture of K900
After some sketches, Kia unveiled the first pictures of her new flagship, the Kia K900 which will be the star of the Korean brand’s booth at the New York show.
For once is not customary, the Kia K900 remains true to the sketches. At the front, the Korean limousine sports an imposing grille with a more discreet “Tiger Nose”. This grille composed of 176 small “diamonds”is flanked by optical blocks with a double luminous signature . The new, more assertive look of the optical blocks is reinforced by the more indented shield.
The Kia K900 relies on chrome to emphasize the most important stylistic elements at the front, the body line, the exhausts and the rear lights. The latter benefit as at the front of a double light signature.
Kia announces a longer and wider K900 without giving any numbers, except for the wheelbase. This one gains 6 cm to reach 3.10 m , and is intercalated between the short and long versions of the German limousines.
If no cliché of the interior has been revealed, a commercial brochure of the Korean version called K9 has emerged on the Korean web. It confirms the presence of a 12.3-inch diagonal infotainment screenand buttons that illuminate when they detect the hands of the driver and passengers. The Kia K900 also features a mood lighting developed with Pantone that offers 7 presets with 64 adjustable settings.
Kia has also succumbed to the fashion of analog watches between the central vents. The Korean manufacturer has teamed up with Swiss manufacturer Maurice Lacroix.
On the Korean market, the Kia K9 takes over the blocks of the Genesis G80, the 3.3-liter, 370-hp, 510-hp, 3.3-liter V6 and the 426-hp 5-liter V8 . Both engines are coupled an eight-speed automatic transmission

FRSC Partners NIPOST For Improved Service Delivery
In its continuing search for partnership that could lead to improved service delivery in Nigeria, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST), have set up a committee to explore means of ensuring improved services between the two organizations.
This is one of the outcomes of the meeting between the Corps Marshal of the FRSC, Dr Boboye Oyeyemi and the Post Master General of Nigeria, Dr Bisi Adegbuyi when he paid a courtesy visit on the Corps Marshal at the FRSC National Headquarters Abuja recently.
According to Dr Adegbuyi, it has been part of his vision since his appointment in 2016, to deliver an adequate and proper national postal addressing system for the country. To this end, he identified FRSC as a strategic partner to the realization of that vision, saying the two organizations share in the value of reform, modernity and technology in their operations. He assured that after working diligently on the project for the past two years, he was confident that he would deliver on the project of a new dilgitalised national postal addressing system by June this year.
The project, he said is expected to meet the global best practice especially with the adoption of technology in its operations. Dr Bisi Adegbuyi highlighted some challenges facing the efficiency of the service, but expressed optimism that with the growing need for proper addressing and identity management in Nigeria which form part of the nation’s vision, its collaboration with the FRSC will add value to its operations.
In his remarks, the Corps Marshal, Dr Boboye Oyeyemi thanked the Post Master General of Nigeria for the visit, saying the partnership between NIPOST and the FRSC has always been in existence. He however noted that the need for improved partnership is more imperative now view of the ongoing demand for shared information especially in the area of use of technology for improved service delivery to the people.
The Corps Marshal stressed the importance of proper national postal addressing system for the country and assured the Post Master General of the readiness of the Management of the Corps to render necessary support and collaboration. He particularly mentioned effective delivery of driver’s licences, collation of offenders’ records and efficiency in the operations of penalty points by the FRSC as some of the areas of interest of the NIPOST reforms to the Corps.
As part of the partnership initiatives, the Nigerian Postal Service is expected to produce Commemorative Stamps to mark FRSC at 30.
The two leaders further promised to sustain the partnership initiatives by exploring all necessary avenues that could lead to the realization of the nation’s vision of an efficient, reliable and stable national postal address system.
The Post Master General of Nigeria was a companied on the visit by some members of his Management, who were taken round the FRSC Information Technology Centre before settling down for the meeting.
