Sales Of Train Tickets Resumed Tuesday- NRC
The Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC) has revealed that the sales of tickets for intending travellers nationwide resumed at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
This follows the expiration of the federal government’s free train ride on January 4.
The Managing Director of NRC, Fidet Okhiria, said this when he spoke with journalists on Tuesday in Abuja.
Mr Okhiria advised intending passengers to ensure that they purchase their usual tickets electronically or physically at the various stations of the corporation to avoid embarrassment.
The Federal Government had declared free train rides for Nigerians from December 24 to January 4 to facilitate easy movement for the yuletide.
However, travellers had accused the Abuja railway operators of defying the federal government’s directive on free train rides.
They alleged that operators at the Idu Train Terminal reportedly sold tickets to passengers aboard the Abuja-Kaduna train at the rate of N12,000 on Christmas day and N8,000 a day before.
