PTAD Commended For Open Door Policy
Dr Chioma Ejikeme
The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate Executive Secretary (E.S), Dr Chioma Ejikeme and her team have been commended for their open-door policy to pensioners, dedication, hard work and service to pensioners especially Civil Service Pensioners.
The Chairman, Comrade Sunday Omezi gave this commendation during a courtesy visit with other Executive members of the Federal Civil Service Pensioners (FCSP) to PTAD Headquarters in Abuja.
Comrade Omezi however complained about the recent payment of monthly pensions at the beginning of the next month which is a recent development and has continued to cause anxiety among pensioners.
Responding, PTAD Executive Secretary (E.S), Dr Chioma Ejikeme explained that she makes sure that the monthly pension payroll is signed and ready by the 10th of every month while awaiting cash backing from the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF).
The E.S. further assured pensioners that the narrative has changed as it concerns pension management of pensioners under the Defined Benefit Scheme managed by PTAD.
She told them that the PTAD culture since its inception has been committed to pensioners’ welfare as seen during pensioners’ verification exercises done in a conducive environment where food and refreshments are provided while ensuring the verification is quick and smooth.
An ambulance and wheelchairs are also provided and the homes of pensioners who are too sick or infirm to come out for verification are visited for verification.
She encouraged the Union to support the “I Am Alive” confirmation project which is a commendable solution to make sure pensioners can confirm their aliveness from the comfort of their homes.
She further pointed out that the agency can only make progress if the union continues to support it, especially in the prompt reporting of deceased pensioners with the relevant information and the proper dissemination of information to members of their union.
She again stated for the record that PTAD has not collected and kept in commercial banks the funds meant for the payment of the balance of the Consequential Pension Adjustment to Civil Service Pensioners because PTAD is a 100% TSA compliant agency that does not have accounts in commercial banks.
She assured them that the Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning has approved the funds to be released and payment will be made as soon as the cash backing is made.
The Director Civil Service Pension Department, MrSulaymanShelleng, encouraged the Union to advise their pensioners to provide their correct residential addresses to ensure that they can always get Letters and other important information the agency has for them.
