ORC chairman to leverage technology in implementation of 5-point agenda

The Chairman, Office Representatives Committee (ORC) of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria, (CIIN),Gbenga Elusakin, said he will leverage the power of technology in implementation of his administration’s 5-point agenda.
While unveiling a 5-point agenda during his investiture as the 16 chairman of the ORC, recently in Lagos, he noted that his tenure will establish and maintain social media presence across various channels such as LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, Telegram, Facebook amongst others to ensure the success of his set objectives.
According to him, the key thrust of my administration is to sustain a continued visibility of ORC within and outside the industry, adding that as part of this drive, his administration will continue to be present at the Institute’s programmes and drive attendance in line with its constitutional mandate.
His administration, he said would also see to the continued celebration of the institute’s elders, whilst taping from their wisdom as often as necessary.
Structuring technical training for members on insurance, marketing, broking, finance, technology, leadership, would also be a priority, he said.
He noted that there would be rejuvenation of institute membership drive by creating opportunities for professional and business networking among members of the committee.
“I hope that both as executives, members of ORC and insurance industry practitioners, you will lend your time, energy and resources and take your place in our efforts to lift the face of the insurance industry through knowledge and professionalism.” He posited.
Elusakin maintained that the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria is committed to entrenching knowledge and professionalism in the industry and ORC members are arrowheads in delivering on this task.
“The present times might be tough for everyone due to the COVID-19 pandemic but we are confident that this too shall pass. We will not lose any member to the pandemic, we will not lose our jobs or other sources of livelihood. The sun will rise again and we will continue to rejoice with one another,” he submitted.
Born to a noble family of Late Elder R.E Elusakin & Deaconess V.A Elusakin, Elusakin Gbenga (A.K.A Egbon) started his academic life at Salvation Army Primary School at Osogbo and Laro Grammar School Okefia also at Osogbo.
He then proceeded to The Polytechnic Ibadan where he obtained NCE (Technical) in Computer Science /Mathematics. He moved to the Premier University (University of Ibadan) and obtained B.Sc in Mathematics and M.Sc. in Actuarial Science and currently pursuing M.Sc. in Risk Management & Insurance in Joseph Ayo Babalola University.
He is an associate member of this great Institute, The Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria, also an Associate member of Certified Pension Institute of Nigeria, Associate member of Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered), Associate member of the Institute of Credit & Risk Management of Nigeria and a Student member of the Certified Actuarial Analyst (CAA) Global of Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.
He has attended a number of courses/seminars and trainings locally and abroad majoring in Actuarial, Annuity, Marketing, Micro Insurance and Life Operation. Among was the training on Actuarial Techniques for Insurance Professionals and Regulators Organised by the African Insurance Organisationwith the support of the Finance and Private Sector Department of the World Bank from 2012-2013 in Accra, Ghana and Nairobi, Kenya.
