Ohaneze Chieftain Urges Southeast Zone To Unite, Fight Insecurity
A chieftain of the Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, Sunday called on people of the south-eastern region to unite and fight insecurity.
Isiguzoro who spoke as the secretary of Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide noted that the Finland-based leader of the pro-Biafra group, Simon Ekpa, was responsible for the insecurity and destruction of the economy of the zone.
Isiguzoro in a statement placed a $500,000 bounty on Ekpa, calling for his arrest.
The statement reads: “The apex Igbo socio-cultural body, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has taken decisive action in the pursuit of Simon Ekpa, a Finland-based Biafra agitator responsible for the recent surge in violence, insecurity, and economic disruption in South-east Nigeria.
“Simon Ekpa, hailing from Ebonyi state in South-east Nigeria, has been implicated in orchestrating a series of disruptive activities, including the enforcement of a sit-at-home order that paralyzed the region for one week, from 3rd to 9th July 2023. This order resulted in significant loss of lives and severely crippled the economic and social activities in the South-east.
“In response to Ekpa’s actions, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has placed a substantial bounty of $500,000 on Ekpa’s head. The reward is offered to anyone who can provide useful information leading to Ekpa’s capture and subsequent arrest. Ohanaeze Ndigbo, in collaboration with South-east political leaders, is resolute in bringing Ekpa to justice for his atrocities and alleged sponsorship of armed groups in the region.”
