Ohanaeze Ndigbo Tasks National Assembly Members-Elect To Put National Interest Above Personal Interests

Ahead of the inauguration of the 10th National Assembly, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council (NYC) Worldwide has called on members-elect to put national interest above all sectional and personal interests.

The group through a statement by its national president, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, Sunday said what should matter to the incoming members of the Senate and the House of Representatives is the general interest of Nigerians.

He said while they are against rubber-stamp legislation, it is in support of NASS leadership that would work in harmony with the executive.

He further said the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu promises to be ready for good governance and it deserves the support of all Nigerians, including the members of the National Assembly.

Okwu noted that with a robust and supportive National Assembly, President Tinubu would not have obstacles on his way towards restoring the nation to the path of growth and development.

In his words “We are aware that the president’s choice is Senator Godswil Akpabio for Senate President and Tajudeen Abas for Speaker of the House of Representatives. We are upbeat that the National Assembly will experience a robust legislative session under their leadership.”
