Ogun State Promises To Take Over Professor Wole Soyinka’s International Cultural Exchange
The Ogun State government has promised to take over the sponsorship of the annual essay programme named Professor Wole Soyinka International Cultural Exchange, WSICE, in appreciation of his contributions to the development of the nation’s education and humanity.
The Ogun State governor Prince Dapo Abiodun made the promise this monday at the prize presentation of the 2024 edition of the annual essay program held at the countryhome of Professor Wole Soyinka named Ijegba, Abeokuta in commemoration of his 90th birthday.
Governor Abiodun explained that the state government decided to take over the sponsorship of the program to add value to it and give it more recognition.
The governor informed that all the nine winners of the essay competition would be awarded scholarships and gifted a laptop each expressing optimism that the gesture would encourage other children across the country to participate fully in the 2025 edition.
Mr governor while congratulating all the winners of the essay competition, governor Abiodun noted that the program has touched many lives.
The first citizen of the gateway state commended Professor Wole Soyinka for his support to the nation’s educational sector pointing out that this year edition is unique as it coincided with his 90th birthday.
He assured that the state government would continue to identify with the birthday celebrator in ensuring that his legacy projects are well preserved.
Responding, professor wole soyinka in a short remark thanked governor Abiodun for the honour wishing all the children that participated in the competition best of luck in their future endeavours
