NIA Elects Augustine Ebose, Ebele Nwachukwu As Members Of Governing Council
Managing Director/Chief Executive Officers of Anchor Insurance Company Limited and that of the Royal Exchange General Insurance Company, Mr. Augustine Ebose and Mrs. Ebelechukwu Nwachukwu, taking oath of office after their election as members of the NIA Governing Council at the Association’s 52nd AGM in Lagos on Tuesday, June 27, 2023.
The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officers of Anchor Insurance Company Limited and that of the Royal Exchange General Insurance Company, Mr. Augustine Ebose and Mrs. Ebelechukwu Nwachukwu, have been elected as members of the Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA) Governing Council.
They were elected at the Association’s 52nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Lagos recently.
Mr Austin Ebose was first elected a member of the Governing Council in 2021 and has served for two years and therefore was eligible for re-election.
Mrs. Ebelechukwu Nwachukwu was co-opted to serve to serve as a member of the Governing Council in 2022.
Mr. Ebose Augustine Osegha, a Member, Institute of Directors, is the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the burgeoning company. Prior to his appointment in February, 2018 by the Board of Directors of Anchor Insurance Limited and subsequent confirmation in March, 2018 by the National Insurance Commission, he was the company’s Executive Director, Business Development and Marketing, overseeing the entire marketing chains.
He joined the company in January, 2017 from Standard Alliance Insurance Plc where he had worked for not less than ten years and rose to the position of General Manager/Divisional Head, Public Sector, Brokers Marketing and Emerging Markets.
Austin Ebose holds B.Sc (Hons.) degree in Economics from Delta State University, Abraka; MBA, University of Ado-Ekiti, Ado-Ekiti and Masters in Business Administration specialising in Research (M.Res. degree) from the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom.
Mr. Ebose Augustine Osegha is a Member of the Governing Council of the Nigerian Insurers’ Association (NIA); Vice Chairman, Local Organising Committee on ECOWAS Brown Card Scheme Council; Member, Governmental Relations Committee of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) and Advisory Board member, Institute of Counselling in Nigeria.
He was also a Member of the Organising Committee and Logistics/Publicity Committee respectively of the African Insurance Organisations’ (AIO) Conference hosted by Nigeria in 2021.
He is a Fellow, Chartered Institute of Administration; Member, Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN); Member, Institute of Directors (M.IoD) and Member, Ikoyi Club 1938, among others. He has attended many courses and seminars locally and overseas.
Mrs Ebelechukwu Nwachukwu is the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Royal Exchange General Insurance Company Limited.
The Delta State born, is a graduate of University of Benin, Edo State, she is an Alumni of London Business School (Executive Education); London; Alumni and The Columbia Business School, New York.
She started her insurance career at International Standard Insurance in 1994 before joining Standard Alliance insurance in 1996, playing both underwriting and marketing roles. She left the firm as Assistant General Manager (AGM) in 2004.
She joined HEIRS Insurance as Deputy General Manager, in June, 2004 as a Divisional Head, Retail and Channel Management with the task of running the Bancassurance Model with UBA Plc, developing multiple channels of distribution and managing the agency network.
In 2007, she joined Zenith Insurance and was promoted to the position of General Manager (GM) in 2008. She was confirmed Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer in January 2010. She took Zenith Insurance to top three position in profitability in the insurance industry in Nigeria.
Nwachukwu, is a member of Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN); Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) London; Institute of Directors (IoD); Vice Chairman, Sub Committee Publicity of the Insurers Committee; member of Ikoyi Club 1938; and a Chartered member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM)
