NEPZA Expresses Optimism For Dangote Refinery To Address Nigeria’s Energy Challenges
The Managing Director of the Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority (NEPZA), Prof. Adesoji Adesugba has expressed optimism that the Dangote multi-billion-dollar investment in petroleum refining will address Nigeria’s energy challenges.
In a press release issued at the weekend by the Head, of Corporate Communications, NEPZA, Dr Martins Odeh, Adesugba explained that the Dangote Free Zone with the diligent supervision of NEPZA successfully bequeathed the country with an enviable global energy infrastructure.
The NEPZA CEO while congratulating Dangote on the completion of the refinery set to be commissioned by President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday, 22nd May 2023, urged local investors to emulate the billionaire investor by exploring the free trade scheme due to its cost-effectiveness as it would fast-track the country’s industrialization process.
“On behalf of myself, management, and staff of the Authority, I congratulate Alhaji Aliko Dangote and the entire management and staff of the Dangote Free Trade Zone for the completion and commissioning of the Dangote Refinery.
“Let me also congratulate His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR for his commitment to delivering a competitive free trade zone scheme for Nigeria,’’ Adesugba said.
The NEPZA helmsman urged state governments to key into the scheme, noting that the free zone scheme was the only viable tool sub-nationals can use to attract investment and development to their states.
The NEPZA boss, however, expressed delight at the current cooperation from the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), and the Department of State Service (DSS), adding that these kinds of friendly handshakes with these agencies were the types that could open the scheme for global competition.
