NCC Boss Highlights 2024 Achievements, Plans For 2025
As the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) enters a new chapter in 2025, its Chief Executive Officer and Executive Vice Chairman, Aminu Maida, has outlined bold plans to build on the Commission’s 2024 successes.
Speaking confidently about the Commission’s trajectory, Maida pledged to elevate service delivery and transparency within the telecommunications sector.
Reflecting on the past year, Maida highlighted key milestones, including the successful implementation of the Federal Government’s NIN-SIM linkage policy and the Presidential designation of NCC’s infrastructure as Critical National Information Infrastructure (CNII).
“These achievements laid the groundwork for both a secure digital economy and enhanced national security,” he remarked.
Looking ahead, Maida revealed the Commission’s plan to release coverage maps based on crowd-sourced, real-world performance data.
This innovation, according to him, aims to empower consumers by offering insights into the efficiency of Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) in their specific locations. “No more guessing which network works best,” Maida declared.
“Users will have access to actual performance data directly on our website.”
He further emphasized the importance of transparency, stating that these initiatives would foster robust competition among operators and improve service delivery.
“2025 is a year of optimism. With the foundations we laid in 2024, we are set to transform the telecom landscape,” Maida said.
The NCC’s focus on transparency and user empowerment not only aligns with its regulatory mandate but also underscores its commitment to driving innovation in Nigeria’s digital economy. As consumers look forward to these initiatives, the Commission’s strides promise to strengthen trust and competition in the telecommunications industry.
