NAICOM Boss Tasks Insurance Professionals To Make Insurance Count In National Discourse
The Commissioner for Insurance and Chief Executive Officer, National Insurance Commission (NAICOM), Mr. Olusegun Omosehin, has called on insurance professionals in Nigeria to make insurance count in the nation’s national discourse.
He also charged them to harness every opportunity and maximize the potentials of the dynamics, demography, and size of the nation’s economy and the government’s ambitions for the sector’s growth.
Omosehin made the call in his Keynote Address, delivered by his representative, the Deputy Commissioner for Insurance, Finance and Administration, Mr. Ekerette Ola Gam-Ikon, at the Chartered Insurance Institute Of Nigeria’s (CIIN) year 2024 Insurance Professionals’ Forum, held recently at Park-Inn Hotel, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
According to him, “This is the time for insurance professionals to make insurance count in our national discourse. It is time to harness every opportunity and maximize the potentials of the dynamics, demography, size of our economy, and the ambitions of the Government.”
Omosehin who commended the organizers for the theme of the forum, “The insurance Industry: Transformation Strategies towards Expanding Market Reach” noted that “the theme of the forum could not have come at a better time. It is not only apt but accurately contextualised to broaden the horizon of insurance business and also to reawaken the need for the industry to rise to our current realities.”
He explained that the CIIN as a professional body has over the years grown its membership base and recorded achievements in various aspects of insurance education development, setting ethical standards and ensuring compliance with required conduct expected of members.
NAICOM boss called for the cooperation and support of all stakeholders to ensure the success of the transformation strategies to be adopted by the Commission for the growth and development of the industry.
He, however, enjoined all players, professionals, and associations to come together, harness their expertise, maximize their differences and build a stronger and better insurance industry.
“Ladies and gentlemen, the cooperation and support of all stakeholders is equally an integral factor to the success of the transformation strategies to be adopted for the growth and development of the industry.
“The Commission is hereby enjoining all players, professionals, and associations to come to the table, bringing our expertise, maximising our differences and building yet again a stronger and better insurance industry. The ability to stand united, focused and resilient will determine how far we can go,” he said.
