Massilia Motors re-positions Mitsubishi in Nigeria

Foremost Japanese auto brand, Mitsubishi Motors, has been repositioned in the Nigeria market following the establishment of Massilia Motors, a joint venture between CFAO and Kewalram.
This repositioning was affirmed on Monday by the General Manager, Sales and Marketing of Massilia Motors, Mr. Navin Chander at a press conference to commemorate the Mitsubishi Heritage Week, which is holding at the company’s showroom on Adeola Odeku street, Victoria Island, Lagos from Monday, August 27 to 31.
According to Chander, Massilia Motors has been able to grow the Mitsubishi Motors market share in Nigeria from 6% to 13 % within two years, even as it is positioned to grow it further.
He stated that the Mitsubishi brand is exploring a newer strategy with the tag line- Drive Your Ambition, just as Massilia Motors is in the process of appointing new dealerships later in the year. He also added that though Mitsubishi Motors strength is currently in Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs) and pickups, the company will expand its product line-up in the future.
Also speaking, the Deputy Managing Director of Massilia Motors, Mr. Kunle Jaiyesimi, said the company is proud to celebrate the rich Mitsubishi heritage in Nigeria, “as Massilia has been a success story.”
The DMD said “we can confidently say that after about two years of Massilia Motors in Nigeria, we have gained better market share, we have been able to meet up with the needs of the customer, as we have also invested in our showrooms, after-sales and local and international trainings”.
Head of Sales of the company, Mr. Tunji Itiola, revealed that the company is delighted that many users of Mitsubishi products, especially individual owners and fleet owners are happy with their Mitsubishi vehicles, even as he revealed that the company plans to unveil a new Mitsubishi model soon.
On what owners of Mitsubishi vehicles stand to benefit as the Mitsubishi Heritage is being celebrated in Nigeria, the company’s Marketing Manager, Ms. Funmi Abiola stated that there would be many give aways to customers and potential customers, as “we are also using the opportunity to say thanks you to our numerous happy customers.”
Activities lined up for the Mitsubishi Motors Heritage Week include masterclasses, panel discussions, album listening, cocktail night, among others. The Heritage week will feature Canon and renowned photographer Emmanuel Oyeleke, ASPIRE Luxury Magazine, Chocolate City Rapper – MI Abaga, Zaron Cosmetics, Johnnie Walker (Diageo Nigeria) and Tinsel actress/Jazz artiste – Tomi Odunsi, amongst others.
The Mitsubishi showroom has been transformed into a maze, and visitors are being taken on a journey to celebrate the different milestones of the brand daily.
In 2017, Mitsubishi Motors celebrated its 100th anniversary, holding the title of Japan’s oldest car manufacturer. The first series production passenger car, the Mitsubishi Model-A, was developed by Mitsubishi Shipping Company in 1917. It was the first car to be adorned with the three-diamond emblem and was the first mass production car in Japanese history.
