Lions District Governor, Lion Ademola Adesoye Presents Year 2020/2021 Scorecard, Thanks Members, Partners For Support

District 404B2 Governor of the Lions Clubs International, Lion Ademola Adesoye, has reeled out long list of achievements recorded by the District during 2020/2021 Lionism year under his leadership.
In his report of stewardship at the District’s 7th Night of Awards and Recognition, Lion (Dr) Ademola commended the enthusiastic approach and commitment of the members under the District which he said provided the tonic for the achievements despite the challenges occasioned by COVID-19.
According to him, “We started the Lions year 2020/2021 with a lot of feelings of the challenges facing the world because of Covid-19 pandemic but as leaders with prepared blueprint for a stronger district, we got ready with enthusiastic approach with hope and real commitment to take the District to higher level, having been challenged to do so by the passion put forward by my predecessor, PDG Wesley Oladini Kafidiya who work tirelessly to end the previous year with positive gains of membership.
“Leveraging on this, I and my team together with the Clubs were in the course of the year able to achieve so much in affecting and impacting our various communities, while focusing on the five major service areas prescribed by Lions Clubs International i.e. Vision, Diabetes, Pediatric Cancer, Hunger Relieve and Environment.
“Our Clubs had despite the challenges before them performed so fantastically well in delivering service activities in their different communities.”
He said all the Region and Zone chairpersons were successfully mobilized to work with their clubs in order to deliver services of high impact within their various communities, adding that the service activities were properly reported on MyLion platform and some other media were used to showcase the work of humanity.
This singular approach, according to him, brought about lots of visibility and publicity for Lions Clubs International, District 404B2 Nigeria which made the District the envy of other Districts in Multiple District 404 Nigeria and others all over the globe.
He said Covid-19 Pandemic and EndSARS Protest which caused a lot of misfortune has in no small measure impacted negatively on their ability to conduct a lot of activities as planned and thanked God for what they were able to achieve during the period under review.
Below are the summaries of service impacts in the communities within the District:
July – Visibility and Publicity of Lions Clubs International, District 404B2 Nigeria through, Courtesy visits, media appearance, press conference and host of others.
August – Core Project (Offa Diabetes Screening and Treatment Centre) Ground Breaking, Trainings of different categories, Tree planting, Palliatives provisions by clubs and fostering of partnership with different organisations.
September – Pediatric Cancer Awareness Programme by Clubs.
October – Provision of 100 White Canes and other materials for the Blinds Association in Ekiti State, and Walk against Blindness and Eye Surgery in Lagos as part of our Sight Preservation and Awareness Programme.
November – Peace Poster Contest where District 404B2 Nigeria came first, Diabetes Awareness and action where over 30 thousands people were screened, consideration and approval of Core Project 2 (Erin Ile Eye Centre Construction) and District Governor Presentation.
December – Screening and Referral of patients, and sensitization of the populace on HIV/AIDS to commemorate the World AIDS Day, International Youth Day, End of Year Party for the Orphans, Widows and physically challenged; Provision of CCTV and Installation at Wesley School of Hearing Impaired, Surulere, Lagos.
January – First Baby of the year donation of materials in Lagos and Osun, Hunger Relieve Programme at Ojodu Abiodun and throughout the District, Inauguration of the District Comprehensive Medical Mission in Osun.
February – Donation of Cash and materials to Cancer Patients at OAUTHC together with Medical Awareness to Commemorate World Cancer Day on 4th of February 2021 and Public Sensitization on Pediatric Cancer through TV and Radio on 15th February, 2021; DG Region 12 Visitation and District Convention (Iyeru Okin 2021) in OFFA.
March – International Women’s Day, DG Visitation to Region 1, 2, and 4 to commission Clubs’ Projects; Creation of Awareness on the necessity of COVID-19 Vaccination and Commencement of the Vaccination by the District leadership.
April – DG Visitation to Region 5, 6, 7, 8 and 11 for assessment and commissioning, Donation of Medical Equipment and Medications to Ifako Ijaiye Health Centre to commemorate World Health Day 2021 and Worldwide Induction Day.
May – DG Visitation to Region 3, 9 and 10 to commission Several boreholes, toilets facilities and foods donations, Boat Cruise where 120 Lions and few vendors were engaged for 6 to 7 hours on water, Roll back Malaria Campaign/Measles Awareness and Action, 4th DG Cabinet meeting, Dinner with Visually Impaired, District Leadership Election and Lions Service for Children where materials worth millions were distributed.
June – Sustainable Environment Programme where trees were planted and materials distributed to commemorate World Environmental Day, Reading Action Program/Spelling Bee Contest for some schools in Lagos, Sickle Cell Awareness and Action Programme where lots of Materials were distributed to the Sickle Cell Patients and Medical Equipment donated to Ifako Ijaiye General Hospital, Helen Keller Day in Osogbo to sensitize the public about eye protection and maintenance; Recognition programme for members of District and Multiple District 404 Convention Committees.
Speaking further, the District Governor said “the two core projects had received attention seriously to our joy because of progress recorded so far. Offa Project is at roofing level while Erin Ile Project is at Beam/Lintel level. The ingenious ways of discharging our activities gave us so much of breakthrough as an organization “For all we have done, for all the support we have received, we give glory to God almighty. I hereby handover all the above gadgets and materials to you as I promise to be fully on ground to support the growth of our beloved District through you. I wish you real success, even as I remain a part of your Cabinet.”
The occasion was also used to unveil the Compendium published by the District, which the District Governor said is the first of its kind in the history of Lionism in Nigeria to be used showcasing all the impactful Projects and Service activities across District 404-B2 of Lions Clubs International, Multiple District 404 Nigeria.
The Compendium will serve as a reference/resource material for Members and non-members. This will afford New members & Clubs to gather ideas on how best to deliver vital humanitarian services. The general public (will also be in the known of great achievement of Lions of District 404-B2 Nigeria.
The occasion was used to give awards and recognition to Lion members, partners, philanthropists, corporate bodies and individuals that contributed immensely to the achievement of projects and activities during the year for their service to the community. This year’s Awards, according to the District Governor, Lion Adesoye, is being branded from the International Office in OakBrok, Illinois, United States of America (USA).
In a bid to add glamour and glitz to the Award & Recognition Gala Night, a Beauty Pageant Contest tagged “MISS HUMANITY” was introduced. The Contestants were young ladies who represented the 12 Regions of the District covering six States of the Federation. They were adorned in beautiful attires as they step on the stage showcasing their talents, brilliance and glitz while competing for the crown and title of “MISS HUMANITY”.
High point of the event was the Beauty Pageant ”MISS HUMANITY” among other fascinating events packaged to keep attendees engaged and thrilled at the 7th awards and recognition night.
At the end of the contest, Miss Olamide Olatunde who scored 135 points to defeat other 12 contenders emerged winner of the Beauty Pageant and was crowned ”MISS HUMANITY.”
The second position went to Miss Temiloluwa Zaccheaus who scored 111 Points while Miss Chioma Onwubuya came third with 101 points.

Other winners include Lion Adebimpe Balogun, Best Club President 2020-2021; Best Club of the Year, Ikeja Dynamic Lions Club; Best Zone Chairperson, Lion John Oriazowan, Zone 6A, Chairperson. 2020-2021; Best Region Chairperson, Lion Marce Anyanwu, Region 6 Chairperson and Best Public Relations Chairperson, Lion Blessing Umebali.
