International Literacy Day: FBNInsurance promotes literacy amongst needy children

In celebration of the International Literacy Day and in line with the FBNHoldings Group Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability initiatives, leading life insurer, FBNInsurance, lent her support to the provision of complete back-to-school kits to hundreds of needy children in Lagos.
At the event organised by a non-governmental organisation, Jakin NGO, Five Hundred school children from various homes and hospices were provided with school bags, uniforms, notebooks, sandals and socks amongst others.
In her welcome address, Convener, Jakin NGO, Bukola Adebiyi, expressed gratitude to the management of FBNInsurance for their continued support for the programme.
She stated that the insurer has been key sponsors of the Jakin NGO Dress-A-Child-for-School event for a number of years.
In his response, MD/CEO, FBNInsurance, Val Ojumah, who also doubled as the Chairman of the event, praised Jakin NGO for its commitment to the cause of the less privileged. “At FBNInsurance, we take education seriously. FBNInsurance’s strides in the area of education is well documented. Earlier in the year, the firm refurbished two blocks of classrooms and sunk boreholes in two schools at a rural community near Abraka, Delta State.
