Insurance Adoption: CIIN Boss Tasks Insurers On Commitment To Awareness

The President/Chairman of Governing Council, Chartered Insurance Institute Of Nigeria (CIIN) Sir (Dr) Muftau Oyegunle has called on insurance operators to work towards increasing insurance adoption in Nigeria.
Oyegunle made the call in his address at the 2022 fitness walk organized by CIIN in Lagos today.
The CIIN boss emphasized the importance and benefits of fitness walk to both individuals and the industry at large.
“Let us keep remembering that the Fitness Walk, apart from its health benefits, is also a roadshow programme designed for insurance awareness, advocacy and enlightenment of the public on the benefits of insurance. We are also to use the occasion to socialize while doing everything professionally,” he said.
Oyegunle who expressed excitement on the large turnout of insurance companies to the event noted that it is an indication that we are collectively and individually committed to the vision and mission of deepening insurance penetration in the country and making the occasion an inclusive and collaborative venture.
“I am happy with the manner we all collaborated and converged here today to educate the public on the need and significance of insurance in their daily lives. This clearly proves that we are a team geared towards the singular goal of boosting our industry. I urge us all to keep the team spirit and be more committed to increasing the insurance adoption level and moving the industry to lofty heights,” he added
The CIIN boss who expressed delight at the success the programme has garnered over the years, commended the organizing committee, CIIN members, sponsors, insurance companies, broking firms, loss adjusters and agents for their continuous and unrelenting support for the success of the annual event.
Also speaking, the President, African Insurance Organisation (AIO) who is also the Group Managing Director, NEM Insurance Plc, Mr Tope Smart, said the annual insurance fitness walk is a veritable platform for insurance professionals to come together to educate the public on the importance and benefits of insurance.
Whilst commending CIIN for organizing the walk, he thanked the sponsors as well as insurance companies that participated in the event.
The President, Nigerian Council for Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB) Bar Rotimi Edu, said the walk is a good initiative that engenders the spirit of oneness and collaboration in the industry with the aim of deepening insurance penetration.
While calling on the continuity of the programme, Bar Edu described the initiative as a step in the right direction towards enhancing the growth of the industry to contribute significantly to the nation’s gross domestic product (GDP).
The fitness walk kicked off at Guinea Insurance Corporate Office, Jibowu and ended at NEM Insurance at Obanikoro.
The high point of the occasion was the dancing competition won by Universal Insurance staff.
