Ikeja Metro Lions Club Presents Lion Elizabeth Omolade Lewis-Ibe as President

Ikeja Metro Lions Club under the International Association of Lions Clubs, District 404B2 Nigeria, has formally presented Lions Elizabeth Omalade Lewis-Ibe, to the public as its 17th President.
The formal presentation which took place on Saturday, November 10, 2018, at a colourful ceremony, organized by the Club in her honour, at Solab Hotels and suits, Ikeja, also featured the installation of other club officers, and induction of new members.
Speaking at the event, the District Governor, District 404B2 Nigeria, Lion Modupe Christianah Dada, urged the incoming president, Ikeja Metro Lions Club, Lion Elizabeth Lewis-Ibe, to demonstrate good leadership capability, by exhibiting required dynamism and accommodating spirit, to lift her club to higher level.
“Your election and subsequent installation on September 16, 2018, during my public presentation, is therefore a manifestation of the confidence reposed in you by the entire membership of your club. I therefore urge you to demonstrate good leadership capability, by exhibiting the required dynamism and accommodating spirit, to lift your club to higher level,” the District Governor said.
The District Governor, who charged the incoming President of Ikeja Metro Lions Club, to serve beyond horizon, noted that, “The new voices initiative focusing on balancing membership and leadership, will better our Association and the world.”
She reminded the Ikeja Metro Lions Club President that, it was her responsibility to lift the level of her club, especially in membership development and service delivery as depicted in the theme for this year “We Serve Our Community;” just as she charged the new President to bring more quality members to her club.
In her acceptance speech, Lion Elizabeth Omolade Lewis-Ibe, promised to give Ikeja Metro Lions Club, a sound leadership in line with the International Lions Clubs objective, just as she solicited the support of all members.
She said Ikeja Lions Club, as an active Club in the District, will continue to do her best in line with the overall objective of the international Lion club by serving the less privileged through its programmes such as giving vision to the blind; paediatric cancer awareness; relieving hunger; youth empowerment and taking care of the environment among others.
While soliciting the support from all and sundry for the club to succeed, she noted,…”Beyond the ceremony of handing the baton of leadership today to me and my dear team, lies the need for the objectives of our great club to be met. And this can be achieved with your supports.”
Earlier in her Valedictory Speech, immediate past President of Ikeja Metro Lions Club, Lion Helen Irueghe Runsewe, listed over 20 projects executed during her tenure some of which included: Youth/women empowerment programme; Paediatric Cancer and HIV/AIDS awareness programme; donations of books and teaching aids to schools; donation of drugs and equipment to Teaching Hospitals; relieving of hunger and environmental sanitation; among others.
Lion Helen Runsewe thanked members of her team which she said worked tirelessly for the success of the club.
Earlier in his opening remarks, the chairman of the occasion, President, Lagos Country Club, Ikeja, Mr. Tajudeen Akande, had called on all members of the Ikeja Metro Lions Club to support the new president in every way possible in order to ensure that the community derive the maximum benefit from the club’s collective effort.
While congratulating the new president for her election and formal presentation, he prayed God to see her through the period of her presidency.
The event was anchored by Lion Blessing Modupe Umebali, who was also installed with other officers, as the Club’s Marketing Communication Chairperson.
