Ikeja Exclusive Lions Club sets agenda for 2020/2021, focuses on cancer, capacity building for members, others

Ikeja Exclusive Lions Club under District 404B2 Nigeria of the International Association of Lions Clubs has unveiled its agenda for the 2020/2021 Lions Service Year focuses on Childhood cancer, membership drive, leadership training for members, and to improve club financial standing.
Other areas of focus include to facilitate the formation of Branch clubs locally and in diaspora; formation of a LEO’S Club; supports the actualization of five yearly global activities of hunger, environment, vision, Childhood cancer and diabetes as well as ensure members enjoy attending meetings.
The President, Ikeja Exclusive Lions Club (2020/2021), Lion Akhuetie Benedicta disclosed these at the Club’s First Business Meeting of the Year held in Ikeja, Lagos today.
Lion Akhuetie Benedicta who stressed the need to grow the club promised to make Ikeja Exclusive Lions Club a family-friendly club to the envy of other clubs in the district.
Her words: “This year, I’d like us to achieve tthree (3) goals: Increase of another ten (10) members into the club. So please invite family, friends, work colleagues, to one of our dinner meetings or events, to see how they run and get them signed up; Leadership trainings to improve our personal lives, enhance capacity building and make others tap from our professionalism.
“Ensure our club be in Good Financial standing both at the local and international level; Facilitate the formation of Branch clubs locally and in diaspora; Work hard with my team to form a LEO’S Club; To ensure with team efforts that all five (5) yearly activities on Hunger , Environment, Vision , Childhood Cancer and Diabetes are carried out as well as other community activities that will affect lives of vulnerable persons and the needy.
“To increase our enjoyment of attending meetings and each other’s company. I’ve got a number of ideas that I’d like to try in our meetings this year to be different, to engage us differently and so, again, if you have any ideas about this, I’d love to hear them.”
While calling on members to be be dedicated to their calling through demonstrative commitment to the success of the Club’s objective, she said she will be spending some more time in getting others involved with the running of the club and what goes on behind-the-scenes even as she promised to dedicate duties to the first vice President-elect , Lion Dumebi Nwosa to chair a couple of meetings in readiness for next year.
According to her “what I love about this club is that as an exclusive club we are strong in membership, open to new ideas and change, versatile in projects and activities, and have such a diversity of people who share a common goal to serve the community.
“What I also really love about our club are the partners and families who support our members because without your involvement and volunteering, our club simply could not do what we do. And it’s now fantastic to have more families joining and seeing so many kids attending our meetings and for our club to be so welcoming and inclusive.
“Being a family-friendly club is important to me and I know we are the envy of other clubs in our district. This is what I really look forward to building on in the next 12 months despite the challenges COVID19 pandemic poses.”
While commending the Immediate Past President, Lion Akpiruo Tennyson on his achievements, she thanked Lion members for the conference reposed in her to lead the Club.
