ICPC Pledges To Regenerate National Value System At 8th Annual Integrity Icon Summit
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), has pledged its commitment to regenerating the value system of the Nigerian society by doing whatever it takes through anti-corruption efforts.
This commitment was declared by the Chairman of ICPC, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN during the 8th Annual Integrity Icon Summit and Awards Ceremony hosted by Accountability Lab in Abuja recently.
Dr. Aliyu, who was represented by Mr. John Okor Odey, Deputy Director of the Commission, delivered a goodwill message affirming the Commission’s extended hand of fellowship and partnership to the host organisation, Accountability Lab; stressing that ICPC was in line with the Accountability Lab in the process of naming and faming.
The Commission’s Chairman further assured ICPC’s willingness to help build a Nigeria where transparency and accountability would be the watchword, also congratulating the integrity icons., stressing that all eyes will be on them.
The ICPC Boss reaffirmed the existing partnership between both parties, adding that the Commission has carried out National Summits on Diminishing corruption in Public Service for three years during which some public officers who have done well in display of integrity were identified and rewarded.
Present at the event to give a keynote speech titled “Building Trust in Governance Processes: The Power of Ethical Behaviors and Positive Norms” was Dr. Otive Igbuzor, Executive Director of the African Centre for Leadership, Strategy and Development (LSD), who stated that the Nigerian democracy was facing a crisis of legitimacy, adding that law enforcement institutions must be empowered to act without political interference.
Also delivering goodwill messages were Inspector General of the Nigerian Police Force represented by AIG Ben Igweh, Ambassador of Belgian Embassy, Public Private Development Centre, Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR) and representatives of United States Embassy.
