ICPC Honours DPO who rejected $200,000 bribe with Public Service Integrity Award
The Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) yesterday conferred the 2022 Public Service Integrity Award on a superintendent of police, Mr. Daniel Amah, for honesty and discipline.
Amah, a divisional police officer (DPO) in Bompai Kano, was reported to have rejected a $200,000 bribe to drop a case involving one Mr. Ali Zaki, a bureau de change operator, who connived with other individuals to rob a Nigerian of $750,000.
He was also said to have followed up with investigation of the matter until the culprit was prosecuted.
Amah, an indigene of Plateau State, received the award by President Muhammadu Buhari at the 4th National Summit on Diminishing Corruption in the Public sector held yesterday in Abuja under the theme ‘Corruption and the education sector.
The president commended the recipient for his integrity.
“I also commend the chairman, ICPC, the secretary to the government of the federation and the registrar of JAMB, for organising this summit and bringing together the three arms of government, ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) and other stakeholders to deliberate on corruption in the educational sector of Nigeria,” Buhari said.
He said he was pleased to have participated in each of the previous summits organised by the current board of the ICPC, in collaboration with the office of the secretary to the government of the federation, targeting different aspects of the administration’s commitment to fight corruption.
