FG Violated Rights Of Nnamdi Kanu By Not Presenting Him In Court – Activist

Justice Uhuegbu, human rights lawyer and National President, Association for Good Governance (ASGG), said that the Federal Government has infringed on the right of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), by the failure of the Department of Security Services (DSS) to present him in court to answer to the allegations levelled against him.

Uhuegbu said that it was unfortunate that the security agencies in the country are still engaging themselves in this kind of uncivil behaviour.

In a chat with Daily Independent, Uhuegbu said, “When somebody is arrested for any offence, you must give that person the opportunity to defend the accusation levelled against him or her, bearing in mind that the 1999 Constitution as amended stated that an accused person is innocent until found guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction.”
