Diamond Bank appoints Idris Mohammed as Non-Executive Director
One of the leading commercial banks in Nigeria, Diamond Bank Plc, has announced the appointment of Mr. Idris Mohammed as its new Non-Executive Director.
This was contained in a letter dated August 15, 2018 sent to the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE). The appointment, according to the letter, has been approved by Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Idris Mohammed brings to the table of the board his wealth of experience which spans over two decades.
Idris Mohammed holds a Bachelor of Science degree (B.Sc.) in Industrial Engineering from Lehigh University, Bethlehem, P.A. and a Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Finance and Strategic Management from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, United States of America (USA). He has over 27 years experience in private equity investing, corporate finance and banking, spanning both the USA and Africa.
Idris Mohammed was appointed Managing Director of Carlyle Sub-Saharan Africa Fund at the Carlyle Group L.P in October 2017. At the firm, he focused on West and North Africa. He was previously a Partner at Development Partners International, a leading African-focused private equity investment firm. Prior to that, Mr. Mohammed served as a Vice President of WPA Incorporated.
He also served as a Vice President in the Special Situations Group at Goldman Sachs, where he focused in making principal investments in the energy, power and infrastructure sectors. Idris Mohammed began his career in 1992 at Corestate Finance Corp. (now Walls Fargo and Company) in the asset management business. He also held positions in treasury and asset/liability management.
He has served in the board of several companies including Letshego Holdings Limited and AXA Mansard Insurance Plc/Mansard Insurance Plc.
