Cross River State Gov, Senator Otu Appoints New Council Of Chiefs Chairman
The Governor of Cross River State, Senator Bassey Otu has appointed the Paramount Ruler of Abi Local Government Area, His Royal Majesty Ovai (Elder) Solomon Osim Edward JP, as the new State Council of Chiefs Chairman.
According to crossriverwatch.com, HRM, Ovai Solomon replaces the former chairman, the Paramount of Bakassi HRH, Etinyin Edet Okon who was sacked by the State House of Assembly.
He was said to have overstayed his tenure from two years to ten years; an act viewed to be against the State’s Traditional Rulers Council’s law.
Governor Otu approved HRM Ovai appointment in a press release made available by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Anthony Owan-Enoh on Friday, June 21, 2024.
Otu declared that the appointment is in pursuant to section 3 of the Council of Chiefs law, Cap C15 Law of Cross River State, 2004.
The release states that the appointment which will last for two years is with immediate effect from the date of the appointment.
