The President, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), His Eminence, Rev (Dr.) Olasupo Samson Ayokunle, was a special guest at the May edition of the Christian Press Association of Nigeria’s (CPAN’s) monthly Breakfast Meeting held at the Raddison Blu Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, today.
Others in the entourage of CAN President include Rev (Dr.) John Ayo Olalapo, CAN Chairman, Ondo; Pastor Benjamin Akanmu, CAN Chairman, Oyo; Rev. Rotimi Joshua Orikogbe, CAN Chairman, Ekiti; Prof. Apostle Alexander Bamgbola, CAN Chairman, Lagos; Rev. (Dr.) O.O. Testimony Onifade, Director Ecumenism and Bishop Adegbite, Director, National Issues.
The theme of the Breakfast meeting was “Christian Response to Global Persecution.”
At the meeting, the Cleric gave insight into why Christians are being persecuted and what should be their response.
The CAN President also spoke on some activities of CAN under his leadership as well as his vision and mission for CAN.
He also talked on what he told President Muhamadu Buhari when he led the delegation of the apex Christian body in Nigeria to Aso Rock after Buhari was declared winner of the 2019 General Election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Rev. (Dr.) Ayokunle also spoke on CAN’s effort to ensure the release of Miss Leah Shuibu who is under Boko Haram captivity for so many years now, adding that that was one of his reasons for visiting the presidency.
CAN President also spoke on the expectation of Nigerians from the second term of President Buhari to ensure peace, harmony and tranquility that will engenders socio-economic rebirth and national growth based on fairness, mutual respect and justice for all.
He also talked about the insecurity in the country and what should be done to curb it.
