COAS Lt Gen T.A Lagbaja Commissions Warrant Officers’/Sergeants’ Mess And Soldiers’ Club In Yola
In line with his commitment to improve the welfare of troops and their families, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja has commissioned the newly remodelled Warrant Officers/Sergeants’ Mess and Soldiers’ Club at the Gibson Jallo Cantonment Yola, the Adamawa State capital.
According to a statement by the Army authorities posted on its official website, speaking during the commissioning ceremony, the COAS reemphasized the significance of the structures in providing a dignified environment for troops to relax and unwind within the cantonment.
He highlighted that the facilities were designed to minimize the need for troops to seek relaxation outside the barracks, thereby enhancing their personal security after work.
He also stressed that the new facilities will offer a conducive space for social activities while also accommodating personnel who are on transit.
Represented by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division/Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN, Major General AE Abubakar, the Army Boss revealed that the Nigerian Army has embarked on an initiative to expand and remodel existing facilities in all the barracks across the country.
The initiative he noted was aimed at providing soldiers with modern and appropriate facilities that will enhance their performance during operations in line with his command philosophy to enhance the well-being of Nigerian Army personnel and family members.
Applauding the Commander 23 Brigade, Brigadier General PK Zawaya for first noting the welfare needs of troops, the COAS expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the brigade in dealing with all forms of criminalities in the state.
Earlier in his welcome remarks, the Commander 23 Brigade, Brig Gen PK Zawaya highlighted the tremendous support the Brigade continually enjoys from Army Headquarters and 3 Division.
He thanked the COAS for always responding to the yearning of the troops.
He noted the high spirit of personnel while discharging their constitutional roles as a testimony to the care and support received.
The commissioning of the Warrant Officers/Sergeants Mess and Soldiers Club marks a significant milestone in the Nigerian Army’s ongoing efforts to enhance the welfare and well-being of personnel.
