CIIN tasks Insurers to focus on delivering value

In this digital age where the customer is king, insurance companies are being charged to focus on delivering value to their customers in order to create ultimate customer service experience.
President/ Chairman of Council, Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN), Mr. Eddie Efekoha, who said this during the official opening of the institute’s 2018 annual education seminar in Ibadan,Oyo State capital, noted that this will in turn increase the number of persons who embrace insurance, turning them into worthy ambassadors of the industry.
He said the seminar theme, “Increasing Insurance Penetration through Value Creation” beams a spotlight on value as the core essence of what we do as insurance practitioners and focuses on the need to communicate this value in all that we do.
According to him, “Even the smallest molecule of our operations should translate to value to our target audience. Only then can we truly retain top of mind awareness and agree that we have taken a significant step in what we collectively desire to achieve.”
He said insurance industry is a significant contributor in terms of numbers to the economic growth.
“As risk managers,” Efekoha stated, “it is our lot to increase the tempo of our campaigns for insurance awareness and professionalism in order to get more people to stand up and take notice and for more Nigerians to embrace insurance as a profession and as a service offering.”
He said the Institute will continue to leverage on all platforms to ensure the propagation of insurance education, awareness and the highest levels of professionalism obtainable in the industry.
“The institute’s creed is centered on its mandate to provide world class manpower with the highest standard of professional and ethical training for the Nigerian and International business community. I would like to mention at this juncture that the institute is reinventing itself to become even more relevant in the larger scheme of things.
“Our training programs” he said, “are being retooled to make them more applicable to the challenges faced in the everyday lives of insurance practitioners. We are also creating new channels and programs to engage the younger generation to ensure that they embrace insurance consciously as a course of study.”
He appealed to the Oyo State Government to see the Insurance Industry as a worthy partner in progress, adding that “No effort can be too much in this collective quest for increased Insurance consciousness in our Nation.”
Efekoha said the 2018 Education Seminar is a call for all hands to be on deck in the actualization of the awareness campaign.
Meanwhile, while speaking during his courtesy visit to the Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, Efekoha intimated the Governor of his presidency’s agenda and the activities of the institute.
“As 49th President of the Institute, the theme of my Presidency, ‘Advancing Insurance Education and Professionalism,’ serves to further drive the core responsibility of the Institute in the insurance industry. The goal is to unlock further, the abundant potential that resides in our noble profession and increase its acceptance as a profession and as a service offering institute in the society.
Oyo State is a key cog in the wheel of the institute. We have a very vibrant chapter here led by our very resourceful Chapter Chairman, Mr. Wale Oladebo, it is also one of our major marking centers. The feedback we get from our footprint here, gives us the impetus to continue striving to improve on our efforts in doing our own bit to ensure that the insurance industry takes its rightful place as a key contributor to the country’s GDP,” Efekoha told Governor Ajimobi.
At the Place of His Imperial Majesty, The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji while on a courtesy call with his Council members, Efekoha called on the Royal Majesty to encourage his subjects to embrace insurance.
Efekoha noted that embracing insurance is the only true way through which the people can “Live with Freedom”.
“We are soliciting for your support to drive the news about insurance to all nooks and crannies of Oyo State. Together, we can promote the Insurance Industry to greater heights,” he stated.
