The President/Chairman in Council, Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) Mr Edwin Igbiti has ascribed the successes and growth recorded in the Nigerian insurance Industry in 2022 to God even as he expressed optimism that with God the industry will continue to experience greater growth in the years ahead.
Igbiti said this while giving a closing remarks at the CIIN 2022 Christmas Carol of nine lessons and Thanksgiving service organized for families of members and friends of the Institute on Wednesday at the Hoars Memorial Methodist Cathedral, Sabo, Yaba, Lagos.
According to him, “I thank God on behalf of the Institute for making it possible for us to gather physically in his presence this afternoon. This year has been a very crucial year and in this same crucial year, Insurance sector has performed very well. This is the sector that has grown in premium income and also in profit, not withstanding the challenges of unfavorable economic environment, We give God the glory and ascribed the success to God who made it possible.
“We know our performance this year was impressive and next year I believe we will double it.”
While thanking the Church authorities for accommodating them, he also appreciated members and workers as well as others for taking part in the programme.
Igbiti also read the first lesson of the service entitled “The Fall of Man” taken from the book of Genesis 3:1-12.
Earlier in his brief exhortation titled “At Last, The Salvation has come,” taken from Luke 2:29-30, Rev Kolade Ilori, talked about the fall of man through disobedience and how God restored man’s salvation through his son Jesus Christ.
He said because of man’s disobedience to God, man died spiritually and also died physically and God that was so closed to man separated himself from man because “God does not behold iniquity”
According to him, “Because of the love God had for man, God was looking for a way to bring man back to himself to continue that relationship, that rapport that had existed before…
“Man was going through suffering as we are going through today in our country and man needed a leader-saviour, they were asking as we are asking today in Nigeria. Who is going to help us? Who is going to save us from this corruption? Who is going to save us from this kidnapping, from this hardship, from this inflation, from this forex problem and high cost of living. People are asking who is going to save us?” One day God will save us.”
He expressed the hope that God who brought salvation to mankind will save Nigeria from the present situation even as he called on the people to embrace righteous living.
Special pryers were offered for the leadership of CIIN, Insurance Industry and the nation’s economy generally.
