CICAN Hails Tinubu’s Appointment Of Dr Muda Yusuf To NCS Board
The Commerce and Industry Correspondents Association of Nigeria (CICAN) has applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Dr Muda Yusuf to the board of Nigeria Custom Service (NCS).
The group says, Dr Yusuf’s appointment is well deserved considering the huge contribution of the seasoned economist to the nation’s economic discussion.
This fact is contained in a CICAN media statement signed by the body’s National President Mr Charles Okonji and made available to the press recently.
The statement noted that CICAN is delighted with the appointment and commended the president for finding Dr Yusuf suitable.
The statement pointed out that Tinubu’s well-documented reputation as a talent hunt is apparent in the appointment, considering the fact that Dr Yusuf is one of the country’s foremost economist who has over the years consistently proffered solutions to the many economic issues the country have been grappling with.
The statement posited that Yusuf from his days at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry ( LCCI) as the body’s Director General to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Center of the Private Practice Enterprise (CPPE) has shown that he understands the issues with the country’s economy and solutions to most of the problems.
The association said over the years CICAN has engaged Dr. Yusuf and realised that the economist knows his onion, adding that the body hopes that the economist will bring his wealth of experience to bear to the board of NCS.
CICAN however charged Yusuf to ensure he is able to bring his vast of knowledge to bear in his new appointment to justify the confidence the president has in him.
The association stated that the NCS doesn’t enjoy much confidence from most Nigerian businesses and generality of the people due to so many wrongs the officials of the agency have been accused of over the years, adding that CICAN hopes Dr. Yusuf would contribute his quota to redeem the image of NCS over the years.
The statement added that the private sector which Yusuf has championed their cause for decades will be looking to see the developments and reforms he has advocated over the years.
CICAN said the association will continue to follow Dr. Yusuf and NCS to see how the agency will perform during the economist’s four-year tenure on the NCS’s board.
