ANAN President Advocates For Responsible Leadership

The President and Chairman of Council, Association of National Accountants of Nigeria, Prof. Benjamin Chuka Osisioma FCNA has called for ethical and responsible leaders who will place the interests of others above themselves.
Speaking at the Valedictory Lecture, Festschrift cum Compendium presentation and Send-forth ceremony, organized by the Department of Accountancy, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka on his retirement from the University, Prof. Benjamin Chuka Osisioma tasked leaders on exemplary conduct and sacrifice.
In his Valedictory lecture titled, “Ethics and Values in professional leadership: A Convergence of Accounting and Faith”, Prof. Osisioma quoted the literary iconic Chinua Achebe saying “…the problem of Nigeria is simply a failure of leadership. The inability of Nigerian leaders to rise to the challenge of personal example which is the hallmark of true leadership.”
In his remark, the Guest of Honour, His Excellency, Dr. Nkem Okeke, Deputy Governor of Anambra State, acknowledged the need for a change in mindset towards leadership. He admitted that restructuring was not the problem of Nigeria but true leadership.
The Deputy Governor unveiled the Festschrift cumCompendium in honour of Prof. Osisioma titled, “Governance and Professionalism in the 21st Century: Accountants Blueprint”.
In another development, the Vice-Chancellor, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State, Prof. Charles Esimone has lauded the infrastructural and intellectual contribution of ANAN to the University.
Prof Esimone stated this while receiving a delegation of leadership and management from the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) on a courtesy visit led by the President and Chairman of Council, Prof. Benjamin Chuka Osisioma to his office.
He commended the Association for donating a befitting edifice in the Campus to boost academic research leverage and excellence in Accounting education.
The Vice-Chancellor extolled the qualities of Prof. Osisioma who served the University meritoriously while expressing confidence in the President’s ability to advance ANAN to greater heights.
Speaking earlier during the visit, Prof. Benjamin Osisioma hailed the innovative changes in the University under the current administration, while acknowledging an increase in the academic quality of staff.
