Allianz provides water for over 250,000 Jigawa residents
As part of its deliberate approach to societal development, Allianz Nigeria has successfully implemented a Clean Water Initiative for over 250,000 residents in Tshohuwar Gwaram Local Governemnt Area, Jigawa state, Nigeria.
The initiative, commissioned recently, according to the management, is aimed at providing clean water for the residents through the implementation of a mechanized borehole.
“Over the years, access to clean water had always been a challenge for the people of Tsohuwar Gwaram LGA as the community was exposed to several health risks associated with the use of unclean water from a well and river. The people would often travelled long distance (about 2km) by foot to the neighboring village to fetch water from the river during the dry season. The same river is used by nomads in the area to wash and feed their animals thus contaminating it for use. Our objective was therefore to tackle this issue in a sustainable way and provide relief to the community.
“After several visits and consultations with key stakeholders, Allianz Nigeria successfully setup and commissioned the community’s first mechanized bore hole which will ensure that safe and clean water is accessible to every member of the Tshohuwar Gwaram community,” Allianz Nigeria stated.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, His Excellency, the Emir of Dutse, Alhaji Nuhu Muhammadu Sanusi expressed profound gratitude to Allianz Nigeria for the thoughtful and successful initiative which he said would go a long way in improving sanitation and hygiene in the community.
He said the massive turnout in attendance by members of the community during the event was an indication of the heartfelt appreciation and gratitude expressed by the people.
“We have been inspired by this success story and will continue to seek and carry out initiatives to address other challenges faced by communities across the nation,” Allianz Nigeria promised.
