Akpabio Fit For Senate President – PDP Chieftain
Senator Godswill Akpabio
One of the 2023 gubernatorial aspirants in Akwa Ibom state on the platform of the People’s Democratic party (PDP), Mr. James Iniama, has called on the President Bola Tinubu and Senators-elect to consider Nigeria above all and address equity and fairness in the distribution of principal offices at the national level.
According to the blueprint.ng, Iniama in an interactive session with journalists in Uyo, weekend, called for the Senate Presidency to be zoned officially to the South -south geo-political zone of the country and Godswill Akpabio, whom he described as unifying, experienced and character-tested is a good material for the office.
He stated the value of Akpabio’s loyalty to the Nigeria project and the President Tinubu’s governance agenda as critical to the urgent repositioning of the nation, development of youth population and yawning infrastructural deficit.
“It is reassuring of the unity and indivisibility of our great nation to have a patriot such as Senator Godswill Akpabio, a Christian and a Nigerian of the South -south geo-political zone, sit as the President of our Senate,” he said.
The estate surveyor and valuer with more than 40years of professional experience reasoned that the success of Chief Akpabio as the President of the 10th Senate would as well be of immense benefit to Akwa Ibom in particular and the generality of the South -south region of the country.
He appealed to Senators-elect and the political class of the six geo-political zones to collaborate in a bi-partisan manner to rally support for the gentleman whom Nigerians can elect as Senate President.
He praised president Tinubu for hitting the ground running in the matter of the PMS subsidy removal and assent to the Electricity and Power Sector Reform Act within just 10 days in office.
“I was part of the founding of Action Congress and always trusted President Tinubu’s thoughts in those days,” Iniama stated.
Speaking on the fuel subsidy, Mr. Iniama wishes that the Fuel Subsidy Removal Committee headed by the vice president would give a deep thought to the possibility of proposing concessions to the air transport sector, as this will make air travel affordable considering the high level of insecurity on our highways.
James Iniama also spoke glowingly about the Akwa Ibom state governor, Pastor Umo Eno, for looking at governance beyond party lines with the visit to the president while extending the olive branch to members of opposition parties to join hands in building the state.
