Abdullahi reacts to El-rufai’s demolition of parallel APC secretariat
The National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bolaji Abdulahi, has expressed concern over the demolition of a building which was being used as the secretariat of a faction of the party in Kaduna state.
With this coming amidst ongoing attempts to reconcile all aggrieved members of the party, Abdulahi believes “this kind of situation, will make things a little more difficult for those who now have the responsibility to bring people together”.He said this while addressing the issue on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday. The building, located along number 11 B Sambo in the state capital, was demolished in the early hours of Tuesday, under the alleged supervision of the state Governor Nasir El Rufai.
Many, including the Senate have condemned the act but the state government insists it had nothing to do with politics. The Director-General of the Kaduna State Geographic Information Service (KADGIS), Mr Ibrahim Husseini, explained in a statement that the building was brought down as part of an exercise to rid the state of illegal structures, tackle street trading and restore order across the state.
Abdulahi, however, gave an assurance that the National Working Committee of the party, will ensure that the crisis was dealt with decisively.“I must say that it gives us course for concern that these kind of situations are happening especially at this time that we begin to make deliberate efforts to resolve some of the conflicts and disagreements within the party.
“It shouldn’t have happened but it has happened now so what we are going to do as the National working committee of the party is to see how we can look beyond the immediate pains and ensure that justice is done and be able to rebuild from here”, he said.He also described as “unwarranted”, the comments by another guest on the programme, Mr West Idahosa, that the situation indicated that the APC did not know what to do with power.
According to him, the situation was not peculiar to Nigeria because “wherever you find eagles colliding, wherever you find ambitions colliding, you see these kinds of things happening. We are not saying it is acceptable but we are saying that when they happen, you deal with it and move on.” “I don’t think it is enough to conclude that the Party does not know what to do with power,” he added.
