SON urges manufacturers not to compromise standards
The Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) has warned Nigerian manufacturing companies awarding its Mandatory Conformity Assessment Programme (MANCAP) certificate not to compromise the standard of their products, but to constantly improve their qualities.
The Director-General/Chief Executive of SON, Malam Farouk Salim warned that companies that compromise standards after receiving the MANCAP, would lose the certificate, as it would be withdrawn.
According to the Blueprint, this is just as the Kaduna state SON coordinator, Mr Qasim Yahaya, urged the manufacturers and producers to explore the ECOWAS market as a veritable outlet for their exportation products.
Speaking during the award of MANCAP certificates to nine Nigerian companies and organisations that met the basic standards at its North West/ Kaduna office Monday, the DG, who was represented by the regional coordinator, Malam U. S. Mohammed, tasked the companies to maintain the standard.
“The MANCAP certificates are being presented to beneficiaries to show to the world that their products have met the required standards. The certificate will also boost the marketing of their products because it shows that they have met the standards. In the event of non-performance, the MANCAP certificates issued would be withdrawn.”
Yahaya said the MANCAP certificates “is to enhance loyalty and increase patronage for companies that have conformed to Nigeria’s industrial standard. He added that it ensures consumers get value for their money through quality and enjoyed usage. “With the MANCAP certificate, business owners have the opportunity to explore the ECOWAS business market.”
The representative of Kaduna state Commissioner for Business Innovation and Technology, Musa Shuraihu Mohammed, a Business Premises Registration Officer, lauded the companies for attaining the MANCAP standard.
Hajiya Safiya Bashir, who represented De-Lace, assured their customers of maintaining the quality and standard of products like PPEs, doctor’s apparels, bed sheets, facemasks and others.
