Governor Uzodinma imposes curfew on 10 LGs over breakdown of order
Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo state has imposed a dusk to dawn curfew on 10 local government areas of the state over breakdown of law and order, arising from confrontation between vigilantes and soldiers which has led to death of innocent civilians.
The Blueprint reported that the 10 local government areas are Orlu, Orsu, Njaba, Oru West, Oru East, Ideato South, Ideato North, Isu, Nkwere and Nwangele, all in Orlu senatorial district (Orlu Zone).
Our correspondent gathered that the problem started when soldiers discovered that the Eastern Security Network (ESN) formed by the leader of Indigenous Peoples of Biafra were driving herders out of the forest reserves of these local government areas because of their nefarious activities.
On getting to one of the areas where people were drinking in a beer parlour, an argument ensued between them and the people which led to the killing of a civilian. When the ESN got the information, they confronted the army and this led to exchange of bullets resulting in breakdown of law and order.
The governor described the situation as unacceptable and urged security agents to fish out the perpetrators of the killings and assured that they would not go unpunished.
