Equity market rebound, gains N37bn
Trading activities at the Nigerian Stock Exchange yesterday returned to positive trend, appreciating by N37 billion
Specifically, Market capitalisation of listed equities increased by 0.29 per cent to N12.570 trillion from.N12.533 trillion traded on Monday.
The NSE All share Index also up by 71.42 basis points to 24097.48 points from 24026.05 points reported the previous day.
Volume of activites declined by 34.161 million or 18 per cent as Investors exchanged 155.529 million shares valued at N2.600 billion in 4060 deals against 189.691 million shares cost N2.784 billion exchanged hands the previous day in 4216 deals.
A review of the transactions during the day showed that Airtel Africa Plc led gainers table during the day, increasing by N11.60 kobo to close at N328.70 kobo, BUACement followed with a gain of N1.00 to close at N40.90 kobo, Zenith Bank Plc added N0.30 kobo to close at N16.35 kobo, Redstarex gained N0.29 kobo to close at N3.26 kobo while PZ Cusson increased by N0.20 kobo to close at N4.30 kobo.
On the contrary, Okomu Oil Palm topped losers chart, dropping by N7.70 kobo to close at N67.70 kobo, Unilever Nigeria Plc trailed with a loss of N1.35 kobo to close at N12.45 kobo, MRS fell by N1.35 kobo to close at N12.45 kobo, Dangote Cement dipped by N1.00 to close at N126.00 while MTN Nigeria Communications Plc dropped by N1.00 to close the day at N115.00
The result further showed that Guaranty Trust Bank was the toast of Investors for the day, exchanging 19.723 million shares valued at N413.816 million, Access Bank Plc followed with account of 13.012 million shares cost N81.056 million.
