CIIN unveils new curriculum, set of course books for foundation stage

In fulfillment of its avowed commitment to train professionals that will meet the insurance industry’s human capital need, the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) has unveiled first set of course books in its new curriculum to be used for the foundation stage in raising insurance professionals. The books are eight in number.
Speaking at the launch of the books in Lagos, the President of the institute, Mr. Eddie Efekoha, said the books will be used for foundation stage of the Institutes exams F01 – F08, stressing that the books represent a body of work that will greatly stimulate the intellect of the modern day professional.
He noted that subsequently, the books for the other stages will be released to stakeholders for their use appropriately, adding that the total number of revised books to be released by the Institute are 27 and that considerable work has been put into ensuring that the idea came into fruition.
“Please permit me to point out that these publications are a product of the renewed relationship with the Chartered Insurance Institute, United Kingdom. After a careful review of their course-books in relation to their validity to the application of the modern day insurance practices, the Institute thought it appropriate to adopt their course-books for the use of our professionals.
“Subsequently necessary approvals were gotten from our sister Institute and most importantly, these books have gone through the painstaking process of domestication in order for them to be relevant to the Nigerian insurance Industry,” he said.
He specially appreciate the Chairman of the Examination Committee, Past President, Venerable Ladipo Ajayi who coordinated the team that delivered on this project. “I will also like to appreciate the efforts of the Secretariat and the members of staff of the Institute who have toiled to put this work together as well as the authors who put in considerable work to domesticate the course books for local use,” he said.
Chairman of the Examination Committee/Past President of the Institute Venerable Olusola Ladipo-Ajayi, thanked the President for his support throughout the book production process, stating that in line with the theme of his presidency, it was only fitting that he got to launch the books.
He stated that the books were in line with the Institute’s commitment to creating modern professionals, adding that the books were gotten from CII UK and the Institute received permission to localize them for the use of Nigerian students.
