COVID-19: Lions District 404B1 Nigeria Donates materials worth N4m to Lagos State
The International Association of Lions Clubs District 404B1 Nigeria has donated medical supplies worth N4 million to Lagos state government as part of their support for the state in its fight against COVID-19.
Speaking before presenting the materials to the representative of the Governor of Lagos State Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Medical, Dr. Oladipo Olurin, at the Lagos State House, Marina, Lagos, at the weekend, Lions District 404B1 Nigeria District Governor, Lion Benard Eboreime, who led other Lions to the occasion, commended the effort of the Lagos State Governor as the incident commander in combating the spread of the virus.
Eboreime said the donation for Lagos state was in recognition of its pivotal role in combating the ravaging deadly virus.
Materials donated included Hand sanitizer 500 ml 300 pieces; Hand Sanitizer the giant size 100 pieces; N95 face mask 140; examination gloves 20,000 pieces; three layers medical face mask 10,000 pieces; PPE body gowns 40 pieces; among others.
The Council Chairperson Lions International, Multiple District 404 Nigeria, Lion Alhaji Abiodun Adediji, in an interview with this medium, said the donation was in demonstration of their tradition to collaborate with governments to support their efforts in helping the needy in the society.
“Lagos State is trying its best and we identified that Governor Sanwo-Olu the Incident Commander, has taking the issue of this COVID-19 with all seriousness and we think we should support him to curb the spread of the virus.”
The Past District Governor Lion Alex Irotumhe, while speaking at the event reiterated Lions Clubs’ commitment to the wellbeing of the needy and the less privileged people in the society, stating that their donation to the Lagos state government was in demonstration of their responsibility as humanitarian organization whose core focus is to serve, adding that same donation will be carried out by other districts in Nigeria.
According to him, “Nigeria is divided into four Districts namely: District 404A1, District 404A2, District 404B1 and District 404B2. We are here today because one of our Districts, District 404B1 is making a donation to Lagos State Government. This is not the end; other districts will also make similar donations in due course within their catchment areas.
He called on Nigerians to be conscious of the effect of the deadly COVID-19 virus by obeying government directives regarding the precautionary measures against the spread of the virus.
The District Governor Elect for District 404B1, Lion Lynda Odumbakun, while speaking at the event said as a newly elected District Governor, she will ensure the continuity of the District’s agenda to ensure good life for all Nigerians.
Responding the representative of Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Medical, Dr. Oladipo Olurin, thanked the Lions for their support and pledged to ensure that the materials are judiciously used.

It should be recalled that Lions Clubs International Multiple District 404 Nigeria, had on April 28, donated N5 million to Lagos State in support of the state’s fight against COVID-19.
