Experts urge AMLSN to imbibe entrepreneurial culture, synergy
Practicing medical laboratory scientists in Nigeria under the umbrella of the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria (AMLSN) have been advised to imbibe entrepreneurial culture as well as synegise with one another if they must succeed, make impact and contribute to the nation’s growth.
This advice was given by experts who spoke at the AMLNS’s 14th Annual Public Lecture series held at the weekend at Sheraton Hotels, Ikeja, Lagos with the theme: “Enterprise Opportunities: National Health and Economy.”
The theme speaker, the Group Managing Director, Betterways Group, Lagos, Dr. Dare Victor, called on the Medical Laboratory Scientists to see their profession as an enterprise by making good use of any available opportunity to improve their businesses, impact the society as well as contribute to national development.
Dr. Dare said the over 200 million population of Nigeria is a great opportunity for the Laboratory Scientists, noting that the medical ecosystem cannot work without them.
While calling on them to demonstrate high level of professionalism in their conduct and services delivery, Dr. Dare pointed out that businesses are better when there is synergy and urged them to collaborate with one another for the growth of their businesses.
He called on them to cultivate the culture of converting and discipleship to win major stakeholders to their advantage.
Dr. Dare urged members of AMLSN not to forget application of political strategy, market penetration skill, accurate diagnosis, quality service delivery, quality assurance, effective staff motivation, proper risk analyses.
Speaking on the topic: “Building Young Entrepreneurs: Challenges and Opportunities,” Sade Odunaiya of ActionCoaching Business Coaching, Lagos, told the Medical Laboratory Scientists that for them to be successful they must carve a niche for themselves, set goals and work towards achieving those goals.
She equally advised them to inculcate the attitude of investing and preserving the money they made from their businesses as this would help them in their expansion just as she urged them to be professional in whatever they do, by doing those things right.
Sade charged Laboratory scientists to ensure they put necessary tools in place that would ensure the effectiveness of their business even when they as business owners are not there.
The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Advantage Health Africa, Lagos, Abimbola Adebakin, while speaking on the topic “ Health Enterprise and Development Economy,” called on government of various African countries to solve the health problems of her citizens by making healthcare delivery accessible and affordable.
