The 10th Annual Symposium/Award Ceremony of Health Writers Association of Nigeria (HEWAN) took place today at NECA House, Ikeja. The Chairman off the occasion was the former president, association of Private Medical Practitioners of Nigeria (AGPMPN) and Medical Director, St Raphael Hospital, Dr Anthony Omolola.
The keynote address on the theme “Curbing the High Rate of Brain Drain in the Nigerian Health sector” was delivered by the President, Nigeria Medical Association (NMA).
The second lecture titled “The Rising Incidence of Suicide, the Way Out,” was delivered by President, Association of Psychiatrist in Nigeria, Dr Taiwo Lateef Sheikh.
HEWAN , in her usual tradition, honoured three deserving individuals and one corporate organization with its Award, namely: Chief Medical Director, Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Prof. Chris Bode, as the Best Chief Medical Director of the Year; President, Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Dr Francis Adebayo Faduyile, as Best Medical Union Leader of The Year; President, Pharmacists Society of Nigeria (PSN), Pharm. Sam Ohuabunwa, as the Best Pharmacist off the Year, and Coca-Cola Company, as the Best Beverage Company of the Year.
