Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede Applauds Nigeria-France Business Ties
Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, President of the France-Nigeria Business Council (FNBC) and Chairman of Access Holdings PLC, has lauded the deepening economic and cultural ties between Nigeria and France. He credited the transformational leadership of French President Emmanuel Macron for fostering strategic bilateral partnerships.
Speaking at the inauguration of Zenith Bank’s Paris operations, Aig-Imoukhuede highlighted the rapid progress achieved by Nigerian banks in France, marking a milestone in Nigeria-France relations. He noted that Nigerian banks established a presence in France within six years—a feat that took over five decades for UK banks.
“Over 13 years ago, Jim Ovia, then CEO and now Chairman of Zenith Bank, set the pace for Access Bank to open in the UK. Today, Access Bank has set the pace for Zenith Bank to open in France,” Aig-Imoukhuede remarked, celebrating the evolution of Nigerian banking on the global stage.
The launch, attended by industry leaders including Aliko Dangote and Roosevelt Ogbonna of Access Bank, coincided with President Bola Tinubu’s state visit to France.
The event provided a platform for prominent French and Nigerian business leaders, such as Patrick Pouyanné of Total Energies and Bernard Arnault of LVMH, to explore new opportunities for collaboration.
This milestone underscores the shared vision of Nigerian and French leadership in driving mutual economic growth and cultural exchange.
