Akwa Ibom Govt To Partner NULGE On Welfare Of Civil Servants
Plans have been concluded for the Akwa Ibom State government to partner with the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) in the state on the welfare of its staff and retirees.
The state governor Umo Eno who stated this while making his remarks during the 8th Quadrennial State Delegate Conference of the Union held in Uyo, said he would work with the elected officials to ensure that the welfare of the staff and retirees of NULGE are well catered for.
Eno who was represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Mr Frank Achibong commended NULGE for the peaceful conduct of the election and pledged to support the newly elected officers in the state to promote industrial harmony in the state.
“I will stop at nothing to ensure that NULGE remains stronger under my administration. I am committed to the welfare of the local government staff and retirees”
The National President of NULGE Akeem Ambali who pledged the support of the national body called on the newly elected officers in the state to work for the welfare of members and ensure everyone along.
In her acceptance speech, the newly elected Akwa Ibom NULGE President, Anestina Iweh who was reelected for another four years commended the members for the trust reposed in her to serve them for a second tenure.
According to her “When I made this same speech in 2020, there was a lot of debt but now they are all over. I have never betrayed you and I will never do so.”
Earlier, the state ALGON Chairman, who doubles as the chairman of Uyo local government area Dr Uwemedimo Udo in his remark lauded NULGE for the peaceful conduct of the election and pledged the support of the 31 Local Government area administration in the state to the elected officers.
The event also saw the presentation of an Award of Excellence to the Governor as the Local government-friendly governor by NULGE.
The elected members of the executive were Deputy President EDET Effiong Ukosin, Publicity Secretary: Augustine Akpan, Auditor: Ukoh Charles Edet and Unyime Monday Udo.
