Insurance, Aviation Sectors Move To Rebrand Nigeria
Poised to drive growth in the nation’s Insurance and Aviation Sectors, and project Nigeria to the world, a high level stakeholders follow up meeting of the two sectors was convened today at Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.
The meeting which was chaired by the Honorable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Mr. Festus Keyamo SAN also had in attendance the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, Chairman Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and other financial institutions Sen. Munkhail Abiru.
Others in attendance included Chairman House Committee on Insurance and Actuarial Matters Hon. Ahmed Jaha, representatives of the Nigeria Civil Authority (NCA), Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC), Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA), Nigeria Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB), Airline Operators of Nigeria amongst other stakeholders.
The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace in his opening remark appreciated all stakeholders for accepting the invitation and stated that the meeting was crucial for the progress of the operations for the airline operators and the growth of the Nigerian insurance market.
After the presentations from various stakeholders, Keyamo said that it was agreed that a wider meeting of the Nigerian delegation with the international lessors and financiers is going to be held early next year.
He said there is need for further engagement on the issue by the Nigerian Insurers Association, to further enlighten international lessors and financiers to understand their position and capacity.
Aviation Minister said the initiative is part of rebranding Nigeria to the world, noting that every Sector in the Nigeria’s economy has the duty to be rebranded and let the world understand how we are, and what we are capable of.
