NAUTH Set To Host Health Minister, Commits To Advancing Healthcare Interventions
The Chief Medical Director, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH) Nnewi, Prof Joseph Ugboaja, has said arrangements have been concluded to host the nation’s Health Minister, Prof Ali Pate, insisting the institution is strategically positioned to administer specialised healthcare interventions
Prof Ugboaja stated this during a news conference to mark One Year anniversary of commissioning of its permanent site by President Bola Tinubu, commencement of third phase movement of clinical relocation as well as the Minister’s maiden working visit to the facility.
According to him, the Minister is expected to visit the hospital on 15th/16th July to commission some of its facilities including groundbreaking ceremony of Regional Diagnostic Center.
He explained that the occasion would be used to honour some of its benefactors including Chief Cletus Ibeto, Sir Emeka Offor, Sen Ifeanyi Uba, Governor Chukwuma Soludo as well as some pioneer staff who worked for the success of the hospital established 34 years ago.
“Whatever you are doing for the hospital,you are doing for humanity.”
While acknowledging managerial and professional competence of the Health Minister, he said that the institution was committed to the programmes of federal government targeted at reviving and upgrading the healthcare sector.
Ugboaja affirmed that NAUTH had deployed a nine point agenda to actualise the hospital’s commitment to being ranked among the best three in the nation.
According to him,the hospital with almost 1000 installed bed capacity is being gradually equipped with state of the art healthcare facilities suitable in improving and promoting quality life and reducing medical tourism.
Ugboaja affirmed that NAUTH would continue to expand its healthcare infrastructure, enhance knowledge and skills of workers, foster collaborations and partnerships to provide quality efficient services to citizens.
He, then, said the present administration of the institution under his watch would continue to partner stakeholders including LNG for more oxygen plants and contribute its own quota towards achieving the laudable nine point agenda.
