Nestlé Nigeria Set To Reward Journalists, Calls For Submission of Entries For Media Awards 2022

Nestlé Nigeria,the Good Food, Good Life company, is inviting journalists covering Health/Nutrition, Environment, Agriculture, Business/Economy amongst others to submit entries for its 2022 Media Awards.

The Nestlé Nigeria Media Awards introduced last year aims to reward professionalism and excellence in reporting and storytelling around Nestlé’s focus areas comprising – Affordable Nutrition, Environmental Sustainability, Youth Empowerment, Women Empowerment, Engendering Thriving Communities, and Agriculture.

According to a statement issued today and signed by Bola Audu, Corporate Communications Specialist, participation is open to mainstream and online journalists from all over Nigeria and entries must be published stories on Nestlé’s focus areas – Affordable Nutrition, Environmental Sustainability, Youth Empowerment, Women Empowerment, Engendering Thriving Communities, and Agriculture.

Nestle in the statement stated that entries must be published within the award year: ‪January 1, 2022 to 06 November 2022‬, adding that entries will be judged for originality, value addition, accuracy, balance, depth and focus on Nestlé’s areas of interest as outlined above.

The award ceremony, the statement added, is scheduled to hold ‪on Saturday, December 3, 2022‬.

On how to enter for the awards, the statement explained that all entry materials must be original works published in mainstream or online platforms between ‪January 1, 2022 to November 6, 2022‬ on the activities of Nestlé Nigeria PLC, Nestlé as a Company, or Business or Social Impact areas where Nestlé is mentioned as a stakeholder, partner or collaborator of interest.

The materials must cover one or more of the following subjects:  – Affordable Nutrition, Environmental Sustainability, Youth Empowerment, Women Empowerment, Engendering Thriving Communities, and Agriculture.

“Materials submitted must include100 words vivid description of the entry; Links to the published works, (copies of print publications must be saved as PDFs in a folder and links included in entry); Profile of the individual/organization in a minimum of 100 words; Materials can be articles, radio or Tv reportage, photographs or infographics; A work can only be entered in one category. A series of photographs with captions (news or features) will be counted as one entry; You can only enter one story/published work per category. Multiple entries in the same category by the same individual will lead to disqualification,” the statement further explained.

Categories of entries, according to the statement, include Best story on nutrition and affordable food solutions: Stories published by the journalist on either mainstream or online platforms between ‪January 1, 2022 to November 6, 2022‬ on Nestlé’s activities to help ensure the availability and accessibility of quality nutrition solutions.

Best story on environmental sustainability: Stories published by the journalist on either mainstream or online platforms between ‪January 1, 2022 to November 6, 2022‬ on Nestlé’s activities to help promote environmental sustainability.

Best story on youth empowerment and development: Stories published by the journalist on either mainstream or online platforms between ‪January 1, 2022 to November 6, 2022‬ on Nestlé’s youth empowerment and development activities.

Best story on women empowerment: Stories published by the journalist on either mainstream or online platforms between ‪January 1, 2022 to November 6, 2022‬ on Nestlé’s women empowerment activities.

Best story on community development: Stories published by the journalist on either mainstream or online platforms between ‪January 1, 2022 to November 6, 2022‬ on Nestlé’s community development activities.

Best Story on Finance: Stories published by the journalist on either mainstream or online platforms between ‪January 1, 2022 to November 6, 2022‬ relating to Nestlé’s financial results and stock market performance.

Best Story on Agriculture: Stories published by the journalist on either mainstream or online platforms between ‪January 1, 2022 to November 6, 2022‬ relating to Nestlé’s activities in the Agriculture value chain.

Best Photojournalist Award: A photograph or series of photographs published on either mainstream or online platforms on any activity of Nestlé in Nigeria.  The photograph or series of photographs should relate to any of Nestlé’s focus areas – Affordable Nutrition, Environmental Sustainability, Youth Empowerment, Women Empowerment, Engendering Thriving Communities.  Photos and captions must have been published between ‪January 1, 2022 to November 6, 2022‬.

Submitting a winning Entry, the statement stated that entries must be submitted strictly by clicking on the link https://forms.office.com/r/n0qYfuRShs and completing the form provided.; also by providing at least 100 words information about yourself in the space provide as we as by providing a vivid description of the entry.

Participants are advised to submit ONLY ONE entry per CATEGORY; each entry, according to Nestle, must be submitted separately in the case that the applicant has more than one entry (not in the same category).

On the awards Prizes, the statement maintained that there will be three winners per category: 1st, 2nd and 3rd – First Position – A Samsung Tablet, Nestlé branded Notepad with pen and a recognition plaque.

For First Runner-up – A Samsung Tablet, Nestlé branded Notepad with pen and a recognition plaque whilst the Second Runner-up will go home with a Samsung Phone, Nestlé branded Notepad with pen and a recognition plaque.

The winners and each of the nominees will get a box of Nestlé products and a set of Oriamo free pods, Nestle explained in the statement.

On Mode of Entry, the statement stated that entry form must be completed on or ‪before 11:30 pm on Sunday November 6, 2022‬, accompanied with links to the published works, a 100-word profile of the individual/organization, and a 100-word background information on the entry.

On the Terms and conditions for entry,the statement said participants can only enter one story/published work per category, stating that multiple entries in the same category by the same individual will lead to disqualification.

The statement however urged participants to attach links to their entries, including supporting documents in the space provided in the link below on or ‪before 11:30 pm on November 6, 2022‬.

It stated that a work can only be entered in one category; only works covering the following thematic areas are qualified for entry: Affordable Nutrition, Environmental Sustainability, Youth Empowerment, Women Empowerment, Engendering Thriving Communities, and Agriculture.

“The organisation and judges reserve the right to disqualify any entry found not to meet the communicated criteria,” the statement stated.

The Judges are Victoria Uwadoka; Bola Audu; Peter Ejiofor; Dr. Austin Nweze; Dr. Chioma Emma Nwachukwu; Dr. Chido Nwakanma and Oreva Atanya.

Meanwhile, the maiden edition of the Nestlé Nigeria Media Awards took place in Lagos on Saturday, December 11, 2021.

The event which had six categories of awards with three winners tied to each saw three journalists cleared 11 of the prizes while 7 others jostle to have the rest of the seven prizes.

Newsloungeng.com reported that Chris Onuoha of Vanguard Newspaper stole the show when he was nominated in all the categories except in the photo category.

He was 2nd runner up twice on Nutrition and Affordable Food Solutions and Community Development categories. Twice again as 1st runner up in Youth Empowerment and Development and Environmental Sustainability.

He later won the Women Empowerment category where Ijeoma Ukazu of The Daily Newswave and Bonny Amadi were 1st and 2nd runner up respectively.

Ijeoma Ukazu won the Community Development category with Publisher of Newsloungeng.com, Odutayo Odusanya taking the 1st Runner up position. Ijeoma Ukazu also won the Environmental Sustainability category and took the 1st runner up position in Women Development category.

Bonny Amadi of Weat African News Newspaper got 3 positions as 2nd runner up in Environmental Sustainability, Women Development and Youth Empowerment and Development respectively.

Royal Ibeh of Leadership Newspaper won the Youth Empowerment and Development category while Moses Emorieken of The Nation Newspaper won the Nutrition and Affordable Food Solutions category and Temitope Obayendo of Pharmanews won the 1st runner up position.

In the photo category, Temitope Aina of The Sun Newspaper won the category, while Olatunji Obasa of PUNCH Newspaper and Sesan Awobiye of Momentous Image were 1st and 2nd runner up respectively.
