9,125 NITEL/MTEL Ex-workers now on PTAD monthly pension payroll

After 12 years of uncertainty post privatization, the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD), has added 9,125 Ex-workers of NITEL/MTEL to the monthly pension payroll in fulfillment of President Mohammadu Buhari’s commitment to ensure all pensioners get their entitlements.

PTAD’s Executive Secretary, Sharon Ikeazor, had in August 2018 assured ex-workers that they would be put on the monthly pension payroll to begin receiving their pension for life because “the greatest injustice is not to pay workers their wages after a meritorious service to their father land.”

She said payment of 1,385 Next of Kins (NOKs) will follow shortly as the Directorate concludes the computation of deceased pensioners’ benefits.

PTAD boss further assured them that payment of their pension arrears will be made as funds are allocated and released.

PTAD has so far verified and recently pay-rolled Delta Steel (DSC), Nigeria Reinsurance and NICON insurance under its Parastatals Pension Department.
